Stephani Becker conducts policy research, data analysis, trainings, and advocacy on a range of health care issues, including the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and access to public benefits. Stephani provides training and technical assistance on ACA implementation and Medicaid to navigators, certified enrollment specialists, and community agencies in Illinois. Stephani also manages HelpHub, an online crowd-sourcing community of over 2,000 enrollment specialists in Illinois. Stephani is a founding member of the Protect Our Care Illinois coalition, which was formed in January 2017 to protect against repealing the ACA and disastrous cuts to Medicaid. She is a 2024 National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) consumer liaison representative and a member of the Illinois Health Benefits Exchange Advisory Committee (2024 – 2026).
Prior to joining the Shriver Center on Poverty Law, Stephani was the project director of the Illinois Health Matters digital hub at Health & Disability Advocates. Stephani has an MPP from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a BA in English from Duke University.
