As Director of Advocate & Faculty Development, Maha Syed serves as faculty, coach, and consultant on various Shriver Center training projects. She leads the Shriver’s Center’s Housing Justice Leadership Institute, an intensive training program for attorneys supervising the work of eviction defense attorneys within New York City’s Right to Counsel program. Previously, Maha served as the Executive Director of the New York Legal Services Coalition, where, among other roles, she spearheaded the statewide coalition in legislative meetings, budget hearings, and substantive advocacy. She has also served as Director of Programs at the Chhaya Community Development Corporation. Maha has extensive experience in program assessment and planning. Maha holds a master’s degree in International Affairs, Human Rights and Humanitarian Policy from Columbia University and a B.A. from the University of Chicago.
