Lauren Birchlove has raised millions of dollars for organizations that empower marginalized communities. As Director of Development, they oversee fundraising for the Shriver Center on Poverty Law. They approach the role with the belief that a multi-systems lens is essential to fighting poverty.
Lauren inspires people to support missions that resonate with their values. They raised $2.6 million for UCAN, a direct service provider for youth and families who have experienced trauma. In their last role, they served as Director of Strategy for the mental health advocacy and services organization NAMI Chicago.
They are active in the LGBTQ community. To support local, BIPOC-led LGBT organizations, Lauren has engaged in participatory grantmaking. They hold positions with the Chicago chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. They are a co-chair the LGBTQ Affinity Group and a member of their DEI committee.
The Arizona native is a graduate of Arizona State University. Lauren earned their degree in nonprofit leadership and management. They have a certificate in women and gender studies. Currently, Lauren lives in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood with their partner and two cats. For fun, Lauren likes biking, lifting weights, and playing the drums.
