A webinar on housing protections for justice-involved people in Illinois.
July 16, 2020
Safe and affordable housing is key to successful reentry for justice-involved individuals. This is especially true during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. Unfortunately, people with criminal records face a host of barriers to housing.
This webinar, hosted by the Shriver Center in June 2020, offers helpful information for returning citizens and their families on housing protections for people with arrest and conviction records, including Cook County’s Just Housing Amendment, as well as resources and networks that support returning citizens. Featured speakers include Willette Benford, a leader in the movement for just housing; Henry Shah, a program associate at the Shriver Center; and David Heinze, a staff attorney at Cabrini Green Legal Aid.
