New Digital Resource Guides Low-Income Consumers Through Health Care Options in Illinois
Available in Both English & Spanish at GetCareIllinois.org

CHICAGO - Despite extraordinary gains made in healthcare coverage since passage of the Affordable Care Act, some consumers continue to face difficulties, or have been actively discouraged from, seeking coverage and access to care. Get Care Illinois, getcareillinois.org, a new website launched by the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law (Shriver Center), offers low-income individuals and families a roadmap to finding, obtaining, and using healthcare coverage in Illinois.

Available in both English and Spanish, Get Care Illinois is designed to help individuals navigate and understand the options available to them through the Marketplace and Medicaid to get their families the healthcare that they need. Health care navigators and other providers who assist consumers with health coverage will find the site useful as well.

Get Care Illinois is a project of Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law (Shriver Center), a Chicago-based nonprofit that provides national leadership in advancing laws and policies that secure justice to improve the lives and opportunities of people living in poverty. The Shriver Center’s healthcare justice advocacy team works to eliminate barriers to high-quality affordable healthcare for families with low-income, and to ensure that low-income consumers can make informed decisions about healthcare.

“We hope consumers will find this to be a resource for both enrolling in and maintaining healthcare coverage from year to year, as well as understanding how to use the coverage they may already have,” says Stephani Becker, Associate Director of Healthcare Justice at the Shriver Center.
